Here at Thurston Energy, we recommend to our customers the best ways to reduce energy use in homes and offices. But it doesn’t end there! The Thurston Energy Efficiency Challenge is a simple collection of five clear steps you can take throughout your life to save energy, save money, reduce climate impacts and make our community a better place. Follow the links below to participate in the various programs, and please tell us what you think with the form at the bottom.
1 – Reduce Your Energy Use
Work with Thurston Energy to reduce the amount of energy that you use in your home and in your business. Thurston Energy will identify the best energy efficiency investments and get you on the Pathway to Savings.
2 – Flip the Switch to Green Power
Flip the Switch to Green Power through your Puget Sound Energy bill. Participate in PSE’s Green Power Program to match the electricity you use with renewable energy from wind, biomass, low-impact hydro, and solar power generated in our region. In doing so, you can avoid the emission of around 13,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year by switching to 100% Green Power.
3 – Use Water Efficiently
Reduce the amount of water that you send down the drain. Wastewater costs energy and money to treat, and the LOTT Clean Water Alliance gives free high-efficiency toilets and other efficient fixtures to their sewer customers. Find out if you qualify.
4 – Buy Local
We have so many great locally owned shops and service providers in our community, and buying local helps support our local economy while going lightly on resource use. Sustainable South Sound produces a Buy Local Savings book with over $3,500 in coupons from local businesses. Get one free with your Thurston Energy HomePLUS Evaluation.
5– Take Public Transportation
Intercity Transit buses operate along 22 routes through Olympia, Lacey, Tumwater and Yelm. They run every 15 minutes along major corridors. You can also plan your bus trip using their online trip planner, or use their vanpool program.
Take the Thurston Energy Efficiency Challenge, and challenge your friends and colleagues to do the same.
